Introduction:

Anthony Arnett is an American martial artist who specializes in Chinese martial arts, above all Wing Chun. He is a direct disciple of Australian Wing Chun pioneer William Cheung. Arnett is the founder of his own system, Arnett Sport Kung Fu. The Universal Martial Arts Hall of Fame inducted him.

Early years

Arnett learned martial arts from his uncle but kept his skills hidden because people believed kicking was for girls. Therefore it would attract ridicule and unwanted attention from local youth gangs. After watching the movie Five Fingers of Death in 1975, therefor he realized the popularity of Chinese martial arts. Finally he stopped hiding his martial arts knowledge. After that  Arnett began competing in Point Tournaments in 1974 and became a division champion in local tournaments in 1977.

1980s to 2000

In the 1980s and 1990s, Arnett opened several Wing Chun schools in different states. He won several Grand Champion titles, and retained Division Championship titles for several years. In 1996, he completed a three-volume video series on Arnett Sport Kung Fu. Finally in 1998, he opened his first studio exclusively for one-on-one sessions in Jacksonville. He started promoting tournament training camps and seminars in 1999.

2000 to 2005

During 2000, Arnett won thousands of tournaments. Including the Overall Championship in the National Arts League for Forms Demonstration, Weapons Demonstration, and Most Student Competitors. They awarded him the NKKU Ultimate Grand Champion for 2001 in Forms, Weapons, and Fighting in the Masters Division. Additionally he won Grand Champion in the North Florida Martial Arts Association. In 2002, Arnett opened a third school in Orange Park, Florida. Then created guides for Traditional Wing Chun Kung Fu and Anthony Arnett Sport Kung Fu in DVD and CD-ROM formats.

In 2005, Arnett became the official martial arts instructor for NFL Football Team Jacksonville Jaguars. Their strength and conditioning coach praised and thanked Arnett for his work with the team.

William Cheung invited Arnett to serve as a guest instructor at his Wing Chun Kung Fu Academy in Melbourne, Australia.

Awards and Honors in Martial Arts

In conclusion, Arnett has received numerous awards and honors throughout his career. Induction into the Universal Hall of Fame in 2004 for Kung-Fu Artist of the Year. Similarly Arnett received the Who’s Who in the martial arts legends award. Arnett appeared on Inside Kung Fu Magazine May 2006 front cover with Jackie Chan.
